Anthracite grey James Hardie cladding installation in Baldock, Hertfordshire

Cladding installation Baldock Hertfordshire

Why replace worn timber cladding?

The pitter-patter of tiny feet in the house is a welcome sound for anyone with young children or animals – but not if the sound is coming from inside the walls!

There’s a real risk that birds, mice and even squirrels will get inside timber cladding if it’s not properly maintained. Fortunately, this hadn’t yet happened to our client from Caldecote, near Baldock in Hertfordshire, but it might have done if Summit Cladding hadn’t stepped in.

Danger to electrics

There’s always a chance of a vermin invasion when timber cladding starts to warp and peel away from the wall, and all timber will do this, given enough time. The biggest risk is to any electrical wiring in the wall space, as mice, in particular, seem to find the taste of the wire coating irresistible. The danger then is of a short circuit and fire.

Our client wanted to replace the 30-year-old timber cladding on his back wall, while keeping a rustic look to compliment the garden. The solution was James Hardie cement composite cladding, that never rots or warps nor needs painting or staining.

Energy saving solution

From a choice of some 20 colours our client selected Anthracite Grey, along with pvc soffits, fascias and guttering in the same shade. We also added 25mm insulation behind the new cladding for improved energy efficiency.

What a transformation, and what a sensible, maintenance-free solution.
