Stunning concrete cladding installation in Theydon Bois, Epping

July 3, 2018 4:19 pm Published by

Moving house is a big event in anyone’s life, so it’s understandable that homeowners want to put their own individual stamp on their new property. This was the case for Jackie and Paul, from Theydon Bois, Epping, who decided that the mahogany-stained fascia boards with mock Tudor beams had to go. It was a look that was very popular in the 1970s and 80s, but styles change with the times, and Summit Cladding was pleased to come up with some new ideas for Jackie and Paul. Popular new colour We suggested removing all the existing bargeboards, fascias and guttering and replacing them with new material in grey anthracite pvc. Grey is all the rage at the moment and it would... View Article

New fascias, soffits and bargeboards in Willesden, North West London

January 29, 2018 1:11 pm Published by

Like many of our clients, Eilish and Kevin from Willesden got in touch with Summit Cladding after seeing us working on a neighbour’s house. And they had a problem they hoped we could solve for them. They had been gradually restoring their house ever since they moved in 20 years ago. The inside was looking magnificent. But outside, it was a different story. Even though they had invested a lot of money, with new windows and doors, the property was lacking the “wow factor.” Too high for ladders The reason? All the wooden fascias and soffits were beyond repair and the problem facing Eilish and Kevin was how to get access to the roofline. As with many similar properties, there... View Article

Replacement soffits, fascias and bargeboards in St Albans, Hertfordshire

January 16, 2018 6:46 pm Published by

Summit Cladding loves a challenge. Especially when we get the chance to work with beautiful, natural timber. Our client, David, invited us to quote for work at his house in St Albans, where he wanted all the old wooden bargeboards and fascia boards removed and replaced with a maintenance-free alternative. David said he always prided himself on being a hands-on “Mr Fixit,” but as he was getting older, the thought of getting his ladders out again and doing the job himself was out of the question. Synthetic or natural? When I first met David he was sold on the idea of pvc replacements that had the look of timber. He was even more impressed when he saw a rosewood pvc... View Article

Replacement soffits, fascias and guttering in Twickenham

August 1, 2017 9:34 am Published by

If you are lucky enough to live in an art deco house you will know how important it is to maintain and protect the period features. I was amazed and delighted, therefore, to come across not one house, but a whole cul-de-sac full of art deco houses, all with their original windows intact. Summit cladding was visiting our new client, Antonius and his wife, who have been living in their period art deco house in East Twickenham for over 30 years. Antonius didn’t want the house to look any different, but he had major problems with all the guttering and fascia boards, which needed attention. He had also built a beautiful gazebo to the rear of the house that made... View Article

New fascias, soffits and bargeboards in Enfield, North London

May 8, 2017 5:06 am Published by

Here at Summit Cladding we pride ourselves on respecting the wishes of our clients. So, when Nik and Maria, from Enfield, asked us to carry out a makeover on their property, there was one important condition attached: no trampling on the garden! Nik and Maria have lived in their house in a quiet cul-de-sac for over 30 years and are very proud of their property. When they moved in they had all their windows replaced with white aluminium frames and mahogany sills which, at the time, were a “cutting edge” design. Garden out of bounds! They also carefully maintained the front and back gardens and it was made clear that these gardens were “out of bounds” for our installation team. The... View Article

Soffits fascias bargeboards and guttering installation in Harpenden, Hertfordshire

February 7, 2017 4:19 pm Published by

Summit Cladding faced a double challenge to enhance the look of this 1960s detached house in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. Not only did we have to reach the highest point of the house, but we also had to remove and safely dispose of some asbestos. Summit were recommended to our client, David, after he’d seen the work we carried out for his brother-in-law in St Albans. Part of our task at David’s house was to replace the wooden barge boards. These are the large lengths of timber that follow the outline of the roof, shaped like an inverted letter “v.”  As they are at the highest point of the house they are normally out of reach and difficult to maintain. When they... View Article

Soffits, Fascias and Bargeboards replaced in Barnet, North London

January 25, 2017 8:38 am Published by

Maintenance Free! If you are going to have cladding installed on the outside of your house, you will want it to be maintenance-free, won’t you? What you don’t want is old softwood boards that will start to rot within a few years! That’s a problem a lot of homeowners have faced, because builders tend to use cheaper softwood timber, instead of hardwood — and even builders using pvc sometimes don’t get it right. Summit cladding is a specialist roofline pvc fitting company and we recently completed an installation of maintenance-free roofline products for clients who live in a detached property in Barnet, North London. We were pleased to be recommended to our clients, who were going to have their windows... View Article

Kerb Appeal – Why It Matters

July 5, 2016 10:42 am Published by

For some homeowners, the bulk of their energy goes into maintaining, designing and primping the interior of their home alone. The exterior is often sadly neglected and forgotten. This is a huge mistake because kerb appeal isn’t something that only matters when you’re putting your home on the market. It matters all year round. Well maintained homes cost less over time because things are less likely to deteriorate. Break-ins are significantly less likely to happen if a home looks well managed because intruders are generally put off by the presence of outdoor lighting and well-trimmed bushes and shrubs. If your home looks beautiful on the outside, it will have more appeal locally should you ever decide to sell and maintaining... View Article

Bargeboards & Fascia: Best Paint Techniques

February 15, 2016 1:00 pm Published by

We’ve previously discussed the 7 steps to painting fascia and bargeboards. We also wanted to provide some best practice methods for applying the paint. Paint application is important in order to achieve a smooth, uninterrupted finish that shows off your finish in the best possible light. The following are painting techniques that have helped us professionally preserve our bargeboards and fascia for decades. Tip #1: Try to Paint the Entire Section at Once When painting, every time you stop and start mid section, you’ll end up with noticeable stop/start marks on the face of your bargeboards or fascia. Try to get the entire section painted evenly in order to achieve an even finish. Speed is important here, but try not... View Article
