Soffits, fascias and guttering in North London

Installation Gallery It’s all in the details For Summit Cladding, it’s all about the detail. We will always make sure that our replacement soffits, fascias and gutters are as true to the originals as possible. With this job in North London, our client’s brief was to follow the existing detail exactly, to match what the builders had fitted when the house was extended five years ago. The builders had made their own vented soffits under the roofline and fitted four different fascias on the front door canopy and front bay window. These ornate details were what Summit had to replicate. Matching the soffits and fascias The installation process started with the removal of all the existing wooden fascias and soffits,... Soffit and fascia replacement in London

Here at Summit Cladding our philosophy is that no job is too big or too small and sometimes it’s the smaller tasks that require the greatest attention to detail. Take this delightful house in Buckhurst Hill, London, for example, a former corner shop but now a comfortable family home. The owner approached Summit when he decided it was time to replace the soffits and fascias with something more durable and maintenance-free. But he was also very clear that the replacement had to resemble the original as closely as possible. All in the detail This is something that is often a condition of work that we undertake, especially when dealing with Victorian and Edwardian properties. In those days everything was about... Here at Summit Cladding, we are well used to reassuring our clients that we can and will reproduce the “look” that they want, with all the benefits of up-to-date maintenance-free uPVC materials. Stunning roofline transformation When Summit Cladding gives your property a makeover there are several key stages, all of them important, to guarantee a successful transformation. There is the main cladding itself of course, but we never overlook the need to replace soffits and fascias. The smaller stuff is equally crucial if we want to be sure of a really nice finish. Our client, Mr Gulabadas, has lived in his home in North London for some 40 years and is very happy there. It’s an elegant Edwardian house, solidly built and with generous sized rooms. But as with many of our clients, the constant maintenance of the property’s timber features was taking its toll. Soffits and fascias hard to reach This... View Article

New soffits, fascias and guttering installation in North London

Our latest client, Donna, knew something had to be done when she found squatters living upstairs. A family of pigeons had taken up residence in the roof space over the front door, leaving their messy “calling cards” all over the porch roof tiles. The house, in Waltham Cross on the North London and Hertfordshire borders, was only 15 years old, but the timber fascias had already started to rot, allowing unwanted access for Donna’s feathered visitors. As Donna was wondering what to do about it, she came across Summit Cladding’s showroom while visiting Springtime Nurseries garden centre at Crews Hill, Enfield. It’s how many of our clients find us, and when Donna saw the range of maintenance-free products that we... View Article

James Hardie cladding with new soffits and fascias installation in Chigwell, Essex

Hardieplank weatherproof cladding If Darwin’s Theory of Evolution applied to the materials used for building cladding there’d be a clear line to follow. First came timber, followed by uPVC, and now we have the fully evolved Hardieplank composite cladding, a real game-changer in the world of construction. Take this cosy home in Chigwell, Essex for example. The owner, Lee, has lived there for 20 years. When he moved in, the house still had its original timber cladding which was showing its age. Timber is lovely and natural, but it doesn’t last indefinitely and needs constant painting or staining to preserve its looks. Evolution in action So, one of Lee’s first projects was to replace the wood cladding with white uPVC,... View Article

Door canopy installation in Loughton, Essex

Summit Cladding offers a lot more than just a new way to cover your house walls. A visit from us, with an expert eye, can radically improve the look of your home with a few simple touches. Rob and his wife were visiting the garden centre in Crews Hill, Enfield, when they came across our display and realised that Summit could offer just what they wanted. They moved into their home in Loughton, Essex, five years ago, but there was something not quite right about the front of the property. Apart from its general appearance, there was no front door canopy to offer shelter from the weather. Identifying the problems When Summit approached the house for the first time the... View Article

Stunning James Hardie cladding installation in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire

January 31, 2022 12:04 pm Published by

There’s no better recommendation for Summit Cladding than when clients say they are so happy with our work that they will present their house as a show home for other customers. That’s what happened after our visit to High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, where former inventor Renny asked us to find a solution to his cladding problems. Renny had spent his working life inventing household products designed to make our lives easier. But now it was his turn to ask for help, to reduce the stress of home maintenance. Timber boards had distorted We have written on this blog in the past about so-called waney edge timber cladding boards which look fine when first nailed on, but eventually twist and distort... James Hardie cladding installation in Bognor Regis, West Sussex

Many of us dream of living by the seaside. Perhaps you already do, in which case the topic of this blog might be familiar to you. The salty sea air is healthy and invigorating for us humans, but it can be a nightmare for buildings. Summit Cladding travelled to Bognor Regis on the West Sussex coast, to meet clients who moved there 20 years ago and were facing a losing battle against the elements. They had spent a small fortune fighting salt corrosion, replacing fascias and gutters with PVC and constantly repainting the outside of the house with special durable paint. Coastal cladding challenge After my initial consultation with our clients, I approached James Hardie’s technical department to discuss the... View Article

James Hardie cladding installation in St Albans, Hertfordshire

August 15, 2021 6:20 am Published by

There was something really striking about this recent makeover by Summit Cladding. We are talking colour – a rich and vibrant blue that you don’t see very often on the side of buildings. Summit had been contacted by a client who lives in this 1960s terraced townhouse in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He wanted to replace the existing coloured panels with our durable Hardieplank, but they had to be exactly the same colour as the originals. The reason was that each of the houses in the estate had their own distinctive colour scheme. As well as our client’s blue, the other houses were coloured black, red, and even mustard yellow. Unique character The houses were very much a product of the... View Article
