Installation Gallery It’s all in the details For Summit Cladding, it’s all about the detail. We will always make sure that our replacement soffits, fascias and gutters are as true to the originals as possible. With this job in North London, our client’s brief was to follow the existing detail exactly, to match what the builders had fitted when the house was extended five years ago. The builders had made their own vented soffits under the roofline and fitted four different fascias on the front door canopy and front bay window. These ornate details were what Summit had to replicate. Matching the soffits and fascias The installation process started with the removal of all the existing wooden fascias and soffits,... One of the most distinguishing features of an English period property is its front door canopy. It’s an essential part of the “face” of a house, giving it a unique character, the first feature that people see when they approach the front door. But when Summit Cladding arrived at this latest job in Woodford Green, East London, we were looking at something of a blank canvas. The canopy had come off! Renovation challenges Our client, John, had lived at his handsome Edwardian home for 25 years and had carried out several renovations, always ensuring that they were done sympathetically and in keeping with the original design. Replacing the timber front door canopy was a bit more of a challenge. The... View Article

Summit Cladding ventured out to South Ockendon in Essex for this latest task, where our client, Steve, was looking forward to seeing how we could give his home the makeover it deserved. Steve was one of the many householders who bought their former council homes under the Right to Buy legislation brought in by the government of Margaret Thatcher back in the 1980s. It’s a good, solid semi-detached brick-built house which had pebbledash render around the first floor and boasts a large sunroom extension at the back – although it wasn’t very sunny when we saw the house around Christmas! When Steve and his wife bought their house off the council they knew it would be many years until they... View Article

Many of us dream about buying a brand new house in order to stamp our own style on the internal features, such as kitchen units, floor coverings and colour scheme. However, when it comes to the outside of the house on a new development, we are limited by the architects’ plans and how the builders followed them. But here’s a good example of how Summit Cladding can change all that and make a real difference. We were called to the lovely village of Willingham, near Cambridge, to meet a homeowner who thought the flat-roofed front door canopy on his new house was, well, just a bit boring. He wanted a new look that would stand out from the others in... View Article

Summit Cladding offers a lot more than just a new way to cover your house walls. A visit from us, with an expert eye, can radically improve the look of your home with a few simple touches. Rob and his wife were visiting the garden centre in Crews Hill, Enfield, when they came across our display and realised that Summit could offer just what they wanted. They moved into their home in Loughton, Essex, five years ago, but there was something not quite right about the front of the property. Apart from its general appearance, there was no front door canopy to offer shelter from the weather. Identifying the problems When Summit approached the house for the first time the... View Article

Here at Summit Cladding we pride ourselves on going the extra mile for our clients – not just in what we do for them but how far we travel as well! Out to the leafy lanes of Surrey for this latest job, where a charming lady was looking for our help and expertise. The client had recently moved into a delightful bungalow in Godalming. The setting was perfect and very picturesque, but some of the alterations to the property done by previous owners left a lot to be desired. The workmanship and detail showed that corners had been cut, so it was our job to sort it out for the new owner. Dark timber to be removed The main thing... View Article

Just imagine how nice it would be to get rid of all those dirty old paint brushes in the garage and never have to buy another tin of paint. With Summit Cladding, that becomes a reality. We were contacted by clients near Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, who were fed up with the constant round of painting and renovating their wooden bargeboards, fascias and soffits. It’s a laborious job at the best of times, and not without danger standing at the top of a ladder. And if you hire a contractor every few years it doesn’t come cheap. Fit and Forget Our clients were renovating their substantial and attractive property and wanted to retain the period features, so Summit’s solution was to fit... View Article

One of the challenges facing Summit Cladding when starting a new job is to find out whether any restrictive covenants might influence how we do the work. Covenants are rules and regulations that are agreed between landowners, developers and homeowners, such as stipulations about building materials, paintwork and access. Our client, Alison, who lives in a quiet close in Croydon, came to us about replacing her front door canopy. But her road had a covenant in place, ruling that the window frames and canopy had to remain the same colour. Worn out roof The covenant did not, however, stipulate what materials should be used, and Alison urgently needed to replace the feather-edge timber canopy roof, which was far from watertight.... Estate agents love to talk about “kerb appeal” when describing a house for sale. Does it look good from the front – like a perfect smile with a good set of teeth? Well, one way to be sure that your property has kerb appeal is to fit a brand new front door canopy. Summit Cladding was contacted by Kevin, from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, just before the pandemic lockdown. He and his wife had lived in their home for five years and were getting fed up with the existing flat canopy that was fitted when the house was built. Every time it rained, water would flow over the front of it, soaking anyone trying to get in or out of the... View Article

Summit Cladding loves a challenge – and here is one that certainly tested us. Our clients were in the process of changing the doors and windows at their home in Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire, when they took a long hard look at the front of their house. The new windows looked great, but they really did not like the front elevation of the house which was, well, a bit ordinary. As the “before” picture shows, they had a bay window with a Georgian style flat fibreglass roof, which was very fashionable when it was installed ten years ago. But as we’ve said before, fashions change and the style looked very dated. Summit’s challenge The question for us, then, was how to... View Article
